Contact Tips
Without good electrical contact, there's no way the spark ignition system attached to your forklift's motor could ever operate. You will have a solid electrical connection with fresh contact tips. These provide a physical surface that enables a voltage potential to form across two separate areas, offering a sufficient spark to ignite the fuel inside an internal combustion engine.
While you might be used to thinking of these engines as primarily mechanical, this electrical aspect is vitally important since it permits the engine to get moving in the first place. Depending on the size of the forklift and the displacement of its motor, you may need various sizes of contact tips to get the job done.
Standard Universal Tip Sets
Industrial standardization has made it so that many operating engineers can invest in the same contact tips regardless of the particular make, model, and year of forklift. Many devices can substitute for multiple types of hardware.
Universal Sets
MPB040AC and MP040AC trucks, for instance, can both mount a CT-017 contact without requiring engineers to perform any refactoring work. In most cases, you should be able to install them onto an engine block straight out of the box.
Likewise, CT-967 sets should work for some types of Mitsubishi-branded gear and a series of Caterpillar motors. Several original equipment manufacturers will sell motors under multiple different marks, so their contact sizes may be interchangeable even if it isn't likely that they'd be compatible. Other examples include the CT-955 model, which is again designed to be as universal as possible.
Engineering philosophies differ between various organizations, and there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all forklift component. However, every one of these contact tips was made to be as compatible as possible. Check the dimensions of the contact tips attached to your forklift to increase the chances of finding proper fitment for any replacement parts you might end up working with. Those needing specialized components to restore basic functionality to more complicated forklift designs still shouldn't run into too many issues.
Specialized Contact Tip Hardware
Certain types of internal combustion engines require somewhat unusual components depending on their particular type of construction. Even almost purely mechanical machines need at least some form of contact. The good news is that many mounting hardware kinds are as universal as the strips themselves.
Contact Sets
For instance, the CT-037 contact set has the bolts needed to hold these parts. They can be put together using standard nut drivers, so you won't have to invest in special tools even if you need a somewhat unusual set of contact tips.
